History

The company was originally formed as Tianjin Watch Factory in January 1955 with four craftsmen on order of the People's Republic of China government. In 1990, the Tianjin Watch Factory was awarded the status  of a national company, and in 1992, the Tianjin Seagull Corporation was  founded. That same year, the decision was made to discontinue the  production of mechanical watches in favor of quartz watches; five years  later it came to a complete reversal of this decision. It has since  produced exclusively mechanical movements and watches.
The Seagull Watch Group is headquartered in Tianjin. With factories in Shanghai, Dalian, Yantai and Shijiazhuang-the Group's retail boutiques now appear in almost all major cities across China. The Seagull Watch Group has, over the past half century, established strong technological foundations, got her own "intellectual property rights" key. The Group has transformed itself into a major conglomerate assuming control of R&D, (Research and Development), production, assembly and sale of its own brand.

With the aspiration of becoming one of the "world renowned watch-making factory", the Seagull Watch Group has established its national Research and Technology Center and Industrial Design Center for ongoing technological developments. While aiming at revolutionizing the local industry with world standard technological advancements, the Seagull Watch Group has always been in pursuit of sophisticated and elegant designs. Activities include the development of pro proprietary intellectual rights in high-end mechanical watches, applying in particular to the tourbillion, repeater, perpetual calendar and the split-second chronograph. Over the past few decades the consistent production of high-quality, classical watches has always served as the primary edict.

After 60 years of hard work and profound cultural heritage of Seagull Watch Group, perseverant research on the core technology, relentless pursuit of forging open up one and another brilliant mileage in the history of Chinese horologic history.

In 2000, Tianjin Seagull Watch Group went public, and in 2003 a representative office in Hong Kong was opened. In 2010, the company moved to new production and administration facilities near Tianjin Airport.[2]

Seagull is known for its expertise in the manufacture of tourbillons and chronograph movements.
