Diese Harwood Automatic Uhr ist die Erste Armbanduhr mit automatischem Aufzug, entwickelt von John Harwood, patentiert in England unter Patent Nr.: 1576120 in 1924. Die erste Harwood Armbanduhr in Serienfertigung wurde 1926 auf der Basel Fair vorgestellt, hergestellt bei A.Schild (Fortis) in der Schweiz. Neben dem Automatic Werk ist auch der Aufzugs- und Stellmechanismus eine uhrmacherische Rarität. Die Uhr hat keine Krone und wird mit dem geripptem Glasreif gestellt und aufgezogen. Ein farbiger Punkt in einem runden  Zifferblattfenster bei der 6 zeigt den jeweiligen Schaltzustand des Mechanismus (Stellen / Aufziehen). Bezeichnet vorn: “Harwood, Swiss”, innen: “Two 2 ADJTS, 15 Fifteen, Jewels, Patent No.: 1576120, Swiss”, in der Rückwand: “Perpetual, 14 KT, Gold filled”. Durchmesser 30mm. Diese Uhr ist eine frühe Version aus 1926. Insgesamt wurden ca. 30000 Stück Harwood Automatic gefertigt. Inzwischen gibt es Replicas von Fortis in verschiedenen Varianten.

This Harwood automatic watch is the first wristwatch with automatic wind, developed by John Harwood , patented in England under patent nr.: 1576120 in 1924. The first Harwood watch of mass production was shown at Basel Fair in 1926, produced by A.Schid (Fortis) in Switzerland. Besides the automatic movement also the winding and adjust mechanism is a watchmaking rarity. The watch has no crown and is winded and adjustzed by the ripped glasring. A colored dot at 6 shows the active status of the mechanism (wind / adjust). Signed front: “Harwood, Swiss”, inside: “Two 2 ADJTS, 15 Fifteen, Jewels, Patent No.: 1576120, Swiss”, in the back: “Perpetual, 14KT, Gold Filled”. The diameter is 30mm. This watch is an early version from 1926. Total production of Harwood Automatic was 30000 pieces. Today there are replicas in different looks by Fortis.
